Join us for a day of discovery in this friendly little museum and get hands on with some of the objects that provide a glimpse into Salcombe before it was a fashionable yachting centre. Your guide for the day will be the maritime historian, and chair of the Museum, Roger Barrett who will introduce you to the collection before leading a guided walk through this busy seaside town.
Refreshments: Tea and coffee on arrival and before departure. Bring packed lunch or enjoy one of the many eateries that Salcombe has to offer.
Proposed schedule:
11:00 Arrive at the Museum for tea and coffee. Late morning start allows for travel from all parts of the county. The museum will be closed to the public in the morning.
11:30 Welcome to the museum from Roger and a chance to explore the collections. Some handling opportunities / activities.
12:30 Break for lunch.
13:30 Begin tour of the town led by Roger
14:30 Return to museum for tea and coffee.
15:00 Depart. Museum reopens to the public.
Ticket Price: £4.00 DHS members, £7.00 non-members to include morning and afternoon refreshments, talk in the museum / handling activity and a guided walk around the town.
Travel: if driving please be aware that parking in Salcombe is limited so we advise using the Park and Ride service. Alternatively you could park in Kingsbridge and use public transport.
