The Devon Rural Archive was launched in 2006 to promote a greater understanding of the county’s rural domestic architecture.  Our growing reference library is open to the public two days a week for private research and provides the perfect place to explore Devon’s architectural heritage.  This is complemented by regular exhibitions, various events and our very own research project through which a small team of Consultant Archaeologists visit and record the history, and development of manor houses and farmhouses.  All this is situated in our purpose built facilities on the historic Shilstone estate, near Modbury, in the heart of the South Hams.
