Day of Heritage Talks at Torquay Museum

We are having a day of talks to celebrate the history of Torbay and 175 years of Torquay Museum. Torbay has a long and rich history, during the day five speakers will each give an insight into a different aspect of the story of the Bay.  Come along either in person or virtually and see what new things you can find out about the area.  The day will bring to a close the celebrations for the 175th anniversary of Torquay Museum.

On the day you will be able to learn the story of the Battle of Torquay from Dr James Kneale of UCL, discover the little known stories of local women involved in the fight for the right to vote from Elizabeth Crawford, Researcher and author on the women’s suffrage movement, and enjoy being regaled with tales of Torbay in the 1920s by renowned local historian Dr Kevin Dixon. You can also enjoy a tour of Torquay in magic lantern slides with local history author Phil Badcott and hear a little about the history of Torquay Museum from Curator Clare Howe.

It will be a fantastic day not to be missed by anyone interested in the history of Torbay.

There will be two ticket options, either £10.00 for a ticket to attend the day in person and have the chance to visit the Museum, or £5.00 for a virtual ticket to enjoy the talks from anywhere you are.
