The Sidmouth Local History Group is a part of the Sid Vale Association which aims to promote and support research into the history of the Sid Valley and surroundings. The Group meets on the second Monday of every second month, in the Darlington Room, Abbeyfield, Station Road, Sidmouth. The usual format is for members to introduce discussion on topics of research that they are working on, but occasionally a full presentation is made of a completed piece of work. Members of the group have access to a wide range of local records that may be of help to new researchers. Those who undertake research are encouraged to deposit the results of their efforts in the Sidmouth Museum.
