Chagford Local History Society aims to study the history of Chagford and the surrounding district and has a large collection of material available to view on request.  Membership £10.00.   There is an interesting series of lectures during the winter months, on the last Thursday of the month, in Endecott House starting at 19:30.  These events are open to the public – visitors £4.00.  The several field trips, both local and further afield, during the summer months are for members only.  The Society has mounted 5 exhibitions over the last 10 years which chronicle the history of Chagford street by street.  With text, photographs and illustrations, the use of each building and the trade or profession of the occupants has been recorded in the light of our present knowledge.  We welcome further information.  This material is maintained in folders which may be borrowed by arrangement.
