Devon History Society

Devon History Society

The Devon History Society was founded in 1969 to further the knowledge and study of the county's history. Its members range from enthusiastic amateurs to senior academic historians. Two conferences are held each year in various parts of Devon, and in addition papers are presented at the annual general meeting held in Exeter. All members receive a free copy of the society's journal, The Devon Historian, and are also kept in touch with events through a regular newsletter.

Membership is by subscription, the rates per annum being £10 for individual members, £15 for family members, £10 for affiliated societies, and £15 for corporate membership. Life membership is available for £100. Affiliated local history societies and other relevant organisations are welcome to use this website to publicise their events.

General enquiries should be addressed to the Hon. Secretary, Mrs Margaret Lewis su3681@eclipse.co.uk. Enquiries regarding membership should be sent to Mr Gerald F. Quinn, Membership Secretary, The VIth Emerald, 6 Old Paignton Road, Torquay TQ2 6UY.
